Both of our sites are registered Authorised Treatment Facilities so we can legally and safely dispose of cars.

Authorised Treatment Facilities are sites licensed by the Environment Agency in England & Wales, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency in Scotland or the Northern Ireland Environment Agency in Northern Ireland, to depollute end of life vehicles to set standards by the DEFRA (the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs). Only ATF's allowed to issue a DVLA Certificate of Destruction.

Authorised Treatment Facilities

Authorised Treatment Facilities (ATFs) are permitted facilities accepting waste motor vehicles, and are able to comply with the requirements of the End of Life Vehicle (ELV) and Environmental Permitting (EP) regulations.

The Waste Crime Innovation Programme has been working with the industry and trade associations to improve support to legitimate ATF businesses. As a result, straightforward guidance has been produced to help ELV ATFs comply with current legislation.

The ELV ATF Guidance sets out the requirements for ELV ATFs and other relevant legislation. It will also help to maintain standards, and make compliance easier and quicker, saving time and money, while protecting the environment.

Certificates of destruction

A requirement of the End of Life Vehicles (ELVs) regulations is that the last holder of any vehicle depolluted/dismantled in the following classes is issued with a Certificate of Destruction (CoD):

passenger carrying vehicles up to 3,500kg
light goods vehicles up to 3,500kg
three-wheel motor vehicles (excluding tricycles)

A Certificate of Destruction can only be issued by an Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF). The CoD ensures that the vehicle will be treated and disposed of correctly and that it is de-registered by DVLA.
